Such a cool invitation suite/menu combo for this wedding!  Pink and gold and bold graphics - sign me up! (And don't even get me started on the cork + gold table setting....)

TRIPLE TAKE

It's always such a relief to see stars wearing the same thing in different pictures.
First of all, because it's nice to be reassured that celebrities don't actually wear an outfit once and then throw it away, as it sometimes can seem.  (Sidenote: if you happen to know someone that does this, please give their trashman my address).  Also, it definitely makes them seem more human to know that they have a favorite pair of shoes that they wear all the time just like we do.

Here, Miranda Kerr has perfected the art of the repeat.  She's got a great denim shirt, an awesome pair of black cowboy booties, and a beautiful black bag, and she rocks them multiple times.  The color combo of black, denim, and textured gray might seem simple, but as they say, less is more, my darlings.  Use this as your outfit inspiration for the coming winter weeks, when the fact that you're waking up before the sun even rises makes it difficult to color-coordinate.

Final touches: throw on some diva-status sunglasses and grab yourself a baby and voila!
You too can be Victoria Secret Angel!

DESIGN*SPONGE THANKSGIVING TABLES

Continuing with the Thanksgiving-themed posts for the week, I bring you a little tablescape inspiration, courtesy of Design*Sponge.  They tapped some of their favorite artists, designers, and shop owners to style tables for Thanksgiving dinner.  It was a great idea, and cool to see each individual put their own twist on things.  Above are some of my favorites to get you in the mood for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow!

DRINK OF THE DAY: BOURBON PUMPKIN SHAKES

In honor of Thanksgiving tomorrow, I present the best way to use all that leftover pumpkin!

CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE: THANKSGIVING

So here's the deal: you're home for Thanksgiving at your parents' house.  Maybe it's just your close immediate family, maybe you've got your third cousin once removed there.  Point is, it's Thanksgiving dinner with the family, and you've somehow been volun-told to make a dessert.  This is where your life turns into a choose-your-own-adventure paperbacks I used to check out of my middle school library, where picking the wrong thing could lead to DEATH.
(Or, you know, just being ridiculed and possibly cut out of the will).

**DISCLAIMER: This is an exaggeration.  The author passes no judgement if you make a pumpkin pie, at any point on the homemade to store-bought continuum.  Pumpkin pie is delicious.  She is merely pointing out that this might be a good chance to actually make one of those recipes you always pin to Pinterest.  Also, no matter which option you pick, there is no guarantee of tears of either joy or sorrow.

OPTION 1: Rustic Apple Pie Tart.
I guess it's technically a tart, but it also has the word pie in it, so it counts.
Also, bonus points if you make it in a cute mini cast iron skiller.  (via.)

OPTION 2: Bourbon Pecan Pie.
One word: bourbon. Also, it was featured in Garden & Gun, so it's gotta be pretty good. (via.)

OPTION 3: Spiced Bourbon Apple Pie.
I repeat - bourbon.  Also a good one for people who don't like pumpkin. (via.)

OPTION 4: Shoefly Pie.
According to the website, a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch dessert.  Main flavor: molasses. (via.)

OPTION 5: Sweet Potato Pecan & Bourbon Pie.
Again with the bourbon.  And the pecans. Twist! This one's got sweet potato in to as well. (via.)

OPTION 6: Crack Pie.
A recipe from Milk Bar by way of Bon Appetit; so called because of its addictive qualities.
Warning: may require an intervention. (via)

Make the right choice & may the odds be ever in your favor, my friends!

OH HEY THERE

This is THE perfect winter dress.  It's good for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, sorority rush...the list goes on!  Apparently everyone else thought so too, considering it's sold out on Shopbop....hopefully it'll come back in stock soon so I can snatch it up!
(AKA beg my mom to buy it for me).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

images via ONE / TWO.

I'm posting this from my bed in my room at home in California!  After spending all day yesterday traveling across the country (including a 6 am flight out of Virginia - ouch) it's so nice to be back home and with my family for the week of Thanksgiving.

MR. BODDINGTON'S BOOKS

Are these books from a collaboration between Mr. Boddington's Studio and Penguin Classics not the most adorable thing you've ever seen?  I saw them over on Matchbook Mag's The Daily Spark and couldn't help but share.  Perfect for giving to a book-lover for Christmas
(or just buying one for yourself - I don't judge).

07 November 2012

While Hurricane Sandy did little to no damage where I live, she did bring cold weather with her, and it looks like it's here to stay.  It's the kind of cold weather that makes you want to curl up in a ball when your alarm goes off in the morning and stay in bed all day, reading and drinking tea and watching movies on netflix.  Alas, that thing called class gets in the way.  I'm counting down the minutes to the weekend where I can do absolutely nothing for two days straight.  Here are six things that I wish I had right now to help keep me cozy.
